About Us
Rooted Solutions exists to help mission-driven organizations transform data into meaningful action.
We partner with nonprofits, healthcare organizations, advocacy groups, and civic campaigns to design research, build data infrastructure, and develop analytical tools that answer the questions that matter most. Whether that's understanding why a program is succeeding, identifying where operations are breaking down, or building the systems needed to measure long-term impact, our work is designed to produce insights that organizations can actually use.
Rather than delivering reports that sit on a shelf, we build data systems that become part of how organizations operate.
Meet Our Founder
Jamal Taylor (he/him) is a data strategist, evaluator, and organizer who partners with social sector organizations, healthcare companies, and philanthropic institutions to build collective power through evidence-informed, values-aligned analysis. With over a decade of experience, he approaches data not as an end in itself, but as a tool for strengthening movements, supporting shared strategy, and advancing solidarity across issues and communities.
Grounded in his experience as a community organizer, Jamal's work centers on designing participatory research processes and translating complex data into actionable insights. His expertise spans the full data lifecycle, from developing scalable data infrastructure and advanced statistical modeling to creating intuitive dashboards and executive reports that uncover the "why," deliver the "so what," and catalyze action. He has led data and evaluation efforts across numerous organizations, including Pathway Healthcare, Black Voters Matter, and ProGeorgia. In these roles, his work encompassed a wide range of technical applications, including SQL-based analysis, predictive analytics, social network analysis, experimental (A/B) design, and ETL pipeline development.
With a professional background in electoral data strategies, Jamal’s training and practice include designing and facilitating focus groups, developing culturally sensitive surveys, and delivering comprehensive staff and volunteer training on tools such as VAN/VoteBuilder, EveryAction, Hustle, ThruTalk, and miniVAN.
Jamal holds a Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Operations Manaement from the University of Pennsylvania.
Outside of work, Jamal enjoys playing with his two dogs, practicing boxing, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and watching Alabama football (Roll Tide!).
